Fasting Growing Sport in the World
Pickleball participation increased by 21.3 percent in 2020, according to the Sport and Fitness Industry Association, as Americans sought new ways to be active amid the pandemic. “It’s taking up in other areas of the world as well,” says Stu Upson, CEO of USA Pickleball, the sport’s national regulatory organization. “The International Pickleball Federation is being played in 37 countries. This is about double what it was 18 months ago.” If you have never heard about pickleball you may be wondering how to play it, well I will tell you a little more! Pickleball is a hybrid sport that combines tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It may be played by individuals or in pairs, and it can be played both indoors and outdoors. The goal, like in many racquet sports, is to get the ball over the net while preventing your opponent from returning the stroke. The no-volley zone is referred to as the kitchen, and dinking is a gentle shot that sends the opposing player racing towards the goal in an attempt to catch the ball in time. The great thing about pickleball is that you can play no matter your age! It gets you the exercise needed while not being too difficult. We hope to see you here whether you are a beginner or an expert!
